Ride A Metric (RAM) Training ride Distance: 18-20 miles If necessary, weather cancellation will be posted on the Spring City Cycling Club Facebook page. -- The RAM series is a collection of weekly rides that help cyclists advance their skills and ride longer distances. - Learn routes around Huntsville - Learn cycling safety - Learn cycling maintenance - Ride for social and physical benefits The RAM series is an invitation by SCCC to local bicyclists. The goal of the RAM program is to prepare riders to be able to ride a Metric Century (100 kilometers) in September. The RAM rides start with the basics of riding. Each week the group rides will increase in distance. Every ride will have a ride leader and a "No Rider Left Behind" policy. It is an excellent development program for riders to ride confidently with a group. Participants need to possess a serviceable bike and a moderate level of fitness. Wearing a helmet and having a tail light on your bicycle are required.

Starts at 8:30 am at Bonefish Grill‘s parking lot (4800 Whitesburg Dr. S.), 4.5 miles to Honest Coffee(SW corner of Clinton and Washington with lunch in Washington Park (sometimes to Gold Sprint Coffee or other agreed upon location for an extra couple miles each way) 4.5 miles back. Third Sunday of the month is pancake breakfast on Lincoln Street ($10 cash). Post breakfast Monte Sano option for a total of 24 miles. Ride Contact: Rob Hammond (Skinny Rob), crazybobs12(at)gmail.com, or Anita Tygart at 256-426-3646 for information on this ride. This is a casual ride. No racing at all. This is a very good introductory social ride just to meet people. All skill levels welcome.

Title: New Hope Civitan Park to Cathedral Caverns Distance: 40 miles Start Location: New Hope Civitan Park Date and Start Time: Saturday, June 8th at 8:30 AM Ride Leader: Fred McMurry 256-653-8655 Description: Start New Hope Civitan Park. Restroom is available at the park. We will take the Paint Rock Road loop from New Hope around to Mill Road, though Kennamer Cove and Cathedral Caverns. Rest stop will be at Cathedral Caverns Visitor Center 21.4 miles. Lots of rollers but there is no major climb. It‘s a beautiful ride. We will be in rural areas and some road surfaces are rough in spots. Ride link is https://ridewithgps.com/routes/40840460 Expectations: Please make sure you are familiar with the route. Bring a cue sheet and/or navigational device and have the phone numbers of the Ride Leader and the phone number of at least one friend. Be aware that cell phone service can be spotty. Text message may be the best way to communicate during the ride. Expected end of ride speed is 14-15 mph but faster on flats and slower on climbs. Generally, riders are expected to stay together and watch out for each other. Be confident you can do the stated speed and distance.

Join the Belles who want to ride at a slower beginner pace and count yourself as a "Zen Hen" for the Big Cove area greenways connecting up for 12-15 miles depending on group desires. We roll at about 10mph. Helmet, lights, hydration and a good working bike of any type needed. It‘s always a good idea to have an extra inner tube that fits your bike. You may not know how to repair a flat, but others can help you if you have the right gear on hand. Meet up at the trailhead adjacent to the Hampton Cove Elementary School and we will traverse parts of Hampton Cove and possibly McMullen Cove to see the "naked man".... Learn some new faces, new names and bring back those childhood memories! We should be done by 10:30 AM. Start from the New Sharon Senior Center, 783 Butter and Egg Rd, Hazel Green, AL 35750. CAUTION, there is a steep, fast descent down Robertson Hollow at 9.2 miles with limited line of sight over the crest, so stay to the right. Rest stop will be at Kirkland Grocery 19 miles but we will regroup as needed after the Poorhouse Road climb. Generally, low traffic and nice roads but as always remain traffic aware.
