Spring City Cycling Club
Welcome to the Spring City Cycling Club!
The Spring City Cycling Club (SCCC) of Huntsville, Alabama was founded in 1892 (yes, over 130 years ago!) for the purpose of the promotion and development of bicycling for sport, fitness, recreation, transportation, and safety education. The Club organizes a wide variety of bicycling activities suitable for all biking enthusiasts. There are club sponsored rides every week throughout the year. The club participates and promotes bicycle advocacy for Huntsville and the surrounding areas. The club includes an all-women division, the Rocket City Cycle Belles (RCCB), and organizes the annual All-You-Can-Eat Century in the fall.

Adopt A Mile Program

Each year, since February 2000, the Spring City Cycling Club adopts responsibility for the mile of roadway at the top of the Cecil Ashburn.  We pick up litter on this section of road and are recognized by the City of Huntsville with signs marking the adopted mile.

For 2022: Scheduled are 3 sessions of 12 participants each. The second session Tuesday evening July 26th and the third session is the first Saturday (5th) morning of November. Rain day is Wednesday (March 23rd, July 27th) for session 1 and 2. and Sunday morning (Nov. 6th) after session 3. The amount of time for each session is 2 hours.

We're helping to keep Cecil Ashburn a beautiful place while sharing good company like an adult Easter egg hunt.  Some folks ride their bicycles there and afterwards everyone is invited to a group meal. SCCC officers have approved funding the group’s meal up to $150.

Our November Saturday morning session remains as popular as ever for seeing the sights in the brisk fall air.

Sessions are:

Tuesday, July 26th, 5:30-7:30pm with dinner afterwards. Rain Wednesday July 27th

Saturday Nov. 5th 9-11am with lunch afterwards. Rain Sunday Nov. 6th

Attention Redstone Arsenal Riders

Rec Badges are now being issued and accepted once again!
They are good for one year from issuance.

Attention Hampton Cove Riders

Old 431 from Eastern Bypass to Cherry Tree is now closed (Feb 3, 2020) for up to three years.

Flint River Greenway parking lot will not be accessible during the road work. This includes ride that start there as well as exiting there if you start on the west end of the greenway behind Publix. The best detours will be going out the back of Hampton Cove like you're heading to Gurley and turning right on McMullen Rd or crossing 431 to the Walmart Side and picking up Taylor Rd or Big Cove Rd and heading south to OXR and then heading back north on Old 431 to get to Cherry Tree Rd or Cave Spring Rd.
