SCCC Citizens Volunteer
Adopt A Mile Program
Each year, since February 2000, the Spring City Cycling Club adopts responsibility for the mile of roadway at the top of the Cecil Ashburn. We pick up litter on this section of road and are recognized by the City of Huntsville with signs marking the adopted mile.
For 2022: Scheduled are 3 sessions of 12 participants each. The second session Tuesday evening July 26th and the third session is the first Saturday (5th) morning of November. Rain day is Wednesday (March 23rd, July 27th) for session 1 and 2. and Sunday morning (Nov. 6th) after session 3. The amount of time for each session is 2 hours.
We're helping to keep Cecil Ashburn a beautiful place while sharing good company like an adult Easter egg hunt. Some folks ride their bicycles there and afterwards everyone is invited to a group meal. SCCC officers have approved funding the group’s meal up to $150.
Our November Saturday morning session remains as popular as ever for seeing the sights in the brisk fall air.
Sessions are:
Tuesday, July 26th, 5:30-7:30pm with dinner afterwards. Rain Wednesday July 27th
Saturday Nov. 5th 9-11am with lunch afterwards. Rain Sunday Nov. 6th
