State Championship, USAC Road Race, July 19, 2008, Hartselle, Alabama

Description: 18 mile loop with one major climb, a long descent and then rolling to flat sections. View the route.
Directions: GPS Device - The road race’s start/finish will be at Gum Springs Baptist Church, 371 Gum Springs Road, Hartselle, AL 35640. From I-65 - Take Exit 328 (Hartselle) to AL-36. Go east on AL-36. (From Birmingham, turn right at the end of the exit ramp. From Nashville, turn left at the end of the exit ramp.) Follow AL-36 for approximately 4.8 miles. Turn right on Gum Springs Road - Be careful NOT to turn on Gum Springs Cut-Off. From Highway 231 - Go west on Highway-36. Turn left on Gum Springs Road approximately 5 miles past Highway 67. Parking - Volunteers will be on hand to direct parking on Gum Springs Road. Results are now online.

Criterium Race, July 20, 2008, Huntsville, Alabama

Description: 0.7 mile course in scenic downtown Huntsville with one small hill and tight turns. Free lap rule applies. This is the same course used in previous years.
Directions: GPS Device - The criterium’s start/finish will be close to Progress Bank, 201 Williams Avenue, Huntsville, AL 35801. From I-565 - Take the Jefferson Street/Downtown Exit 19. Head south on Jefferson Street/Madison Street. Turn left on Williams Avenue. Parking - Parking is available on the left at Progress Bank and the office park across from Big Spring Park.

ERC Kids Rocket Races, July 20, 2008

The Alabama Bicycle Coalition presents the ERC Kids Rocket Races, held Sunday on the Criterium course. It’s FREE to race but all children must register their attendance in order to participate. Helmets are required. In the event of poor weather, the kids races will not be held. Unlicensed kids age 12 and under.
