The Spring City Cycling Club (SCCC) USAC Summer Races, held July 21-22, 2007 in New Hope and Huntsville, AL, were a well-attended success! Here are some numbers:

• 245 USA Cycling Federation (USAC) racers registered
• Nearly 500 individual events participants were recorded
• Over 55 different race affiliations, clubs or businesses were represented by racers
• 10 categories of results will be reported to the USAC for each of three events
• Seven USAC referees and judges officiated
• About 70 kids under 13 years old raced for fun and medals in the ERC Kids Rocket Races
• Two Alabama State Championships, the Road Race and the inaugural Hill-Climb Time Trial, were held on challenging new courses in New Hope
• 155 racers (almost 2/3) were AL residents from all over the state, nearly 50 were local cyclists
• Seven states were represented. TN, GA, and MS made strong showings.
• Two dozen Women racers competed
• One dozen Junior guys raced, several in upper categories for at least one of their races
• 14 categories or age groups were awarded AL State Championships in two events
  • 28 gold medals
  • 20 silver medals
  • 10 copper medals
• Five omnium prizes were awarded, donated by four Huntsville Bike Shops
  • Two beautiful road racing bikes, Mens Cat 4 and Junior men
  • Two zooming wheels sets, Mens Masters and Womens Cat 4
  • $140 cash for Womens Cat 3
• Approximately 70 volunteers made this event possible (Mostly SCCC members)
  • Including 23 New Hope H.S. Cheerleader corner marshals at Saturday’s RR
  • 5 New Hope Fire Dept volunteers
  • About 10 police officers working OT from New Hope, Madison County, and Huntsville
